Bring out your rollers – International Wallpaper Week has arrived!
From Monday 2nd until Sunday 8th October, Dovetail are excited to celebrate International Wallpaper week. With so many styles and designs to choose from, this event is not to be missed!
At Dovetail, we often think wallpaper is overlooked. Many think that it’s too much of a hassle, while others think paint is a more cost-friendly option. However, we’re here to stick up for the underdog. If you want style, glamour and sophistication, look no further than wallpaper!
Decorating your home doesn’t have to be a chore.
Many people choose ease over style. After all, why waste time hanging wallpaper? A lick of paint is far quicker! But that’s where you’re wrong. For the sake of an hour or so, your home looks far more boring and unimaginative than if you’d hung wallpaper. Plus, decorating can be really fun, especially if you invite your friends over! You can order a takeaway, turn up the radio and, before you know it, your room will be transformed.
As we mentioned before, painted walls can look really boring. A solid colour – especially cream or beige – can look so uninspiring and dull. Also, it can make your room both look and feel colder. Wallpaper oozes warmth and colour, while also providing insulation in the colder months. This is exactly why it’s a great choice for your home.
Here are some top wallpaper tips from some big names in interior design:
Barbara Hulanicki (founder of iconic clothes store Biba): “Interior trends are slower than fashion, but they usually follow fashion in colour – when in doubt, go for a LBD: little black design.”
Tilly Hemmingway (from House of Hemingway): “Don’t be afraid to go bold! But keep other decor in the room clean and simple so it doesn’t overpower the main attraction.
Sophie Robinson (British interior stylist): “A feature wallpaper should be positioned to create a focal point in the room. This is typically the headboard or the fireplace, any area you’d like highlighted could work.”
